We have our Christmas party in Constable Country
On Thursday 22nd December we closed our doors for the Christmas break and went out to celebrate a good year and a well deserved rest for us all.
The venue for our Christmas party was Le Talbooth Restaurant, in Dedham. Dedham Vale is an area north of Colchester universally known as Constable Country, after the famous 18th century landscape artist John Constable, who lived and painted there. Le Talbooth is a renowned local eatery situated in a 16th century listed building (once a boat station that took people across the River Stour from Essex to Suffolk), and is one of the best restaurants in either county. The food did not disappoint.
We enjoyed a first class meal with excellent wine and a variety of drinks and there was live music and dancing for anyone with the energy (or the footwear) to take part. Some of the girls found that dancing in very high heels was not a practical possibility, so they chatted and drank instead.
This year there was the added attraction of handing out our Secret Santa presents. This was Michelle’s idea and proved very popular. It was lovely to see how thoughtful everybody was in selecting presents that their colleagues would really appreciate and there were some great ideas. Probably the best was Michael’s present. He is a big Coventry City fan and his secret Santa bought him a Coventry City apron! Brilliant idea!!
Most of us stayed until after midnight and it was generally hailed as a very successful end to the year.
